CFA University Baltic Summit is a pivotal event in the calendar dedicated to professionals by CFA Society Poland. The mission of CFA Institute and our Polish society is to promote the highest standards of ethics, education and professional excellence in the global investment industry. The Institute aspires to serve financial professionals by providing education, professional development and networking opportunities. CFA University Baltic Summit embodies the mission into practice.

This year we would like to focus on relations between universities and companies. We believe that education and business may deliver together the best solutions into our global economy.

The main topic of our conference is: "A Look Inside the Future of Finance Profession".

CFA University Baltic Summit is the second edition of the conference. First time we organised the event last year, October 26, 2017.

Over the last two decades, the Central European region has experienced the significant economic changes in terms of the dynamics of development of the modern business services sector. Now we can talk about the employee market and the growing competence gap, as well as the growing demand for specialists. Participants will talk about the problems and challenges facing with economic universities and organizations that are involved in the struggle for talent in Poland. What is more they will try to answer the question whether students and graduates of universities have the appropriate competences and whether the sector of modern business services will still create jobs.

Experts you will meet
President of CFA Society Poland, Professor of Economic Sciences at Wroclaw University of Economics (title given by the President of Poland in 1992), Head of Finance Management Institute. He is member in scientific and professional organizations: Member of Executive Board of Committee of Statistics and Econometrics of Polish Academy of Sciences, Member of Executive Board of Committee of Financial Sciences of Polish Academy of Sciences, Member of Executive Board of Committee of Economic Sciences of Polish Academy of Sciences. His research interests are: financial markets and instruments, risk management, corporate finance, real estate, insurance and quantitative methods (econometrics, statistics).He was a member of the Scientific Council of the National Bank of Poland and a member of the Supervisory Board of Warsaw Stock Exchange.
Kasia Marianiuk is responsible for developing and managing partnerships with emerging and established member societies in Europe, the Middle East and Africa regions. Provides consultative support that focuses on governance, strategy, business development, educational activities and events, as well as resources designed to help societies deliver the CFA Institute mission in their local markets. Leads new business development projects and collaborative initiatives across EMEA. Manages organisation of the annual EMEA Regional Conference.
Michael McMillan, CFA, was director of Ethics and Professional Standards at CFA Institute, where he was responsible for creating, sourcing, and developing educational content for CFA Institute members and investment professionals in the area of ethics and professional standards. Previously, he was a professor of accounting and finance at Johns Hopkins University’s Carey School of Business and George Washington University’s School of Business. Prior to his career in academia, McMillan was a securities analyst and portfolio manager at Bailard, Biehl, and Kaiser and at Merus Capital Management. He is a certified public accountant (CPA) and a chartered investment counselor (CIC). McMillan holds a BA from the University of Pennsylvania, an MBA from Stanford University, and a PhD in accounting and finance from George Washington University.
Technology entrepreneur and investor focused on fintech industry. He is a Managing Partner and CEO of Data Ventures - big data/fintech specialised venture capital fund. In 2012 he co-founded and served for 5 years as CEO at Turbine Analytics - leading SaaS for capital market industry in CEE. Before he worked as an investment analyst in a public exchange listed private equity fund NFI Midas. Piotr Smoleń graduated from Warsaw School of Economics (Finance and Accounting) and Stanford Graduate School of Business (EPGC).
Söhnke M. Bartram is a Professor of Finance at the University of Warwick. He is also a Charter Member of Risk Who's Who and a member of an international think tank for policy advice to the German government. His immediate research activities center around issues in international finance and financial markets. Dr. Bartram's work has been presented at conferences organized by the NBER, CEPR, the American Finance Association, the Western Finance Association, and the American Economic Association, published in the Journal of Finance, the Journal of Financial Economics, the Review of Financial Studies, Management Science, and the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, and included in testimony before the U.S. Congress House Financial Services Committee. Dr. Bartram has been a Visiting Scholar at the Ohio State University, the University of North Carolina, the University of Texas at Austin, the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, the London School of Economics, the UCLA Anderson School of Management, London Business School, NYU Stern, Goethe University, EIEF and EUI. Dr. Bartram worked for several years in quantitative investment research for State Street Global Advisors as Head of the London Advanced Research Center and is a consultant to various financial institutions and investment companies.

Jameel is the President of the CFA Society Jordan, an exam grader and a frequent lecturer in valuation, accounting, finance and ethics.

Jameel is a CFA Charterholder in addition to an MBA in Finance - Valedictorian - from NYIT. Jameel also holds a BA in Economics with Great Distinction from McGill University.

Tomasz joined KPMG in 1994. He developed and currently heads a dedicated Valuation Services team within Deal Advisory Group which undertakes valuations for transaction, regulatory and financial reporting purposes, performs verification of valuations and feasibility studies as well as develops and reviews financial models for financing and other purposes. He heads Valuation Services in the Central and Eastern Europe region and is a member of European Valuation Network and Global Valuations Committee within KPMG. Tomasz was also involved in approximately hundred of non-valuation financial advisory engagements in particular involving financial due diligence undertaken on behalf of both domestic and foreign investors, provided privatizations advisory and prepared business plans.
Over 15 years of experience on global markets with expertise in strategic growth management, transformation and leadership. 

Since 2014 is a Managing Director at S&P Global Ratings, executing across three senior commercial roles:
- Head of Europe, Middle East and Africa Relationship Management: leading a regional team managing entire EMEA existing client book & relationships across all sectors: corporates, financial institutions, sovereigns & public sector and also running the infrastructure and project finance business.
- Regional Head for Central and Eastern Europe (CEE): driving the franchise, strategy and management of the ratings business across the region.
- General Manager for Poland, running day-to-day operations of the Warsaw office. 

From 2016 is a member of the Supervisory Board / Non-Executive of MCI Capital S.A., a leading Warsaw Stock Exchange listed private equity firm investing in the digital economy across Emerging Europe. Member of the Board of Directors at the American Chamber of Commerce in Poland (AmCham) and the Leslaw A. Paga Foundation. 

Actively engaged in the Fintech industry, through S&P, MCI and as chairman of the program board for FutureTech and Fintech Digital CEE - region’s premiere digital economy conferences. Recognized as a leading industry figure and an influential speaker, with visibility across top-tier media. Passionate about social responsibility, actively mentoring and developing future leaders of the Polish capital market and educating young entrepreneurs. 

Before joining S&P was an Executive Director at J.P. Morgan Corporate and Investment Bank in London, where he covered Russia, CIS, CEE, and Israel for Markets and Investor Services. He was also the Deputy General Manager for J.P. Morgan CIB in Poland. Prior to 2007 spent five years with Citi Corporate and Investment Banking, operating in Poland and CEE.

Agnieszka joined the Banking & Financial Services team at Michael Page Poland in 2007 after 2 years as Due Diligence Analyst in ABN AMRO Bank. She has successfully conducted over 85 executive search assignments on Regional (CEE, EMEA), local Board and Director levels among a total of over 220 recruitment projects since joining PageGroup.

She has extensive experience in working with large international financial institutions, SMEs, representative offices and branches – including organizations entering the Polish and CEE markets and companies setting up Shared Service Centers in Poland. Her successful track record in working with local and global investors (including private equity firms) on roles across the whole spectrum of functions make her a versatile consultant.

Agnieszka moved to Page Executive in 2014 and currently leads the Financial Services, Finance and Human Resources practices. While financial institutions remain her focus, she successfully conducts C-level assignments in the areas of finance, legal, shared services & centers of excellence, digital and human resources for clients across all sectors.
